短剣道
Tankendō
The way of the short sword
Overview
Tankendō is the close-range complement to jūkendō, emerging from the same military lineage. Where jūkendō commands distance with the full-length rifle and bayonet, tankendō collapses that distance — using the tanken, a short wooden training dagger, to deliver explosive, decisive techniques at close quarters.
At Seishinkan, tankendō is practiced alongside jūkendō, sharing the same bōgu equipment and foundational body mechanics. Students develop speed, precision, and acute timing in close-range engagement. Those who have established core structure through jūkendō will find tankendō a natural and rewarding extension of that practice.
