居合道
Iaidō
The way of drawing the sword
Overview
Iaidō is the Japanese martial art of drawing the sword, executing a cut, removing blood from the blade, and resheathing — all within a single sequence of movement. Practiced through solo kata, it demands precision of movement, posture, breathing, and intent.
At Seishinkan, students study the twelve Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei (All Japan Kendo Federation) kata, providing a common foundation for grading and seminar participation within the Canadian Kendo Federation. Students will also be introduced to the classical koryū of Musō Jikiden Eishin-ryū (無双直伝英信流) iaijutsu. Our dōjō leaders regularly travel to Kochi, Japan for training.
